Most of what gets built gets built because it was easy to justify, not because anyone asked whether it would make life better. That version has its own websites. This project starts from the other end. It begins with the question what is actually worth building? and works backward to the software, the institutions and the habits that would follow.
Our name means three things, and we mean all of them: things worth creating, things worth keeping once they exist, and the people we would have to become to do either.
Each site is a claim about a good future, with a page arguing for it. We try to make each one the best case we can for the future it imagines. Some grow into working projects. A few may become organizations. Many stay questions, and a question held in public is already doing what we intended.
One question sits under all of it. What should exist by the time someone born this year is old enough to ask why we built it? Not a number. A life with more in it worth having.
Everything on the front page is an answer to one question: what should all this progress be for? We do not think the answer is more. More can be wonderful, and it can be beside the point. The point is the life on the other side of it. The future is not guaranteed to be good. Left alone, it will not be. Someone has to build the good parts. Might as well be us.
